  1。这道题目考察的是before 和since 地用法，可以记住公式：

it is (has been)+ 时间+ since +过去时态的句子

it will be +时间+before +一般现在时态的句子

例如：It has been 5years since we left here。

  我们离开这里已经五年了

It will be 5year before we meet again。 五年之后我们会再见面

选择before 或 since主要看两个句子前后的时态，记住公式就好做了

2。我们可以把这个句子用两个单句做出来，然后再用分词结构

Arnold was faced with a difficult situation and Arnold decided to ask his boss for advice。

be faced with sth: 面对。。。。。

这两个单句前后主语一致，可以用分词结构，去掉前一句的主语，用过去分词：

faced with a difficult situation and Arnold decided to ask his boss for advice。

It+is（has been）+some time+since sb.did sth.主句用一般现在时或现在完成时，而从句则用一般过去时

　　这个句型主要用作处理瞬间动词的完成时，又要和表示一段时间的时间状语连用的问题。主句中是时间作表语，其时态是现在时或完成时，since 引导的从句通常是一般过去时态，而且是瞬间动词。如果主句是一般过去时，从句则用过去完成时。
