英语的标点符号的形及其用法和汉语的基本相同，须知现代汉语的标点符号大部分是来自英语的。和汉语一样，英语的标点符号有句号、问号、冒号、分号、惊叹号、引号、破折号、逗号、省略号等。这些符号的形除句号和省略号外都和汉语相同。汉语的句号是小圆圈（。），英语的句号是小圆点（.）；汉语的省略号是六个小圆点
